Mobile Dispensing Services

Within Glasgow and the surrounding areas, we are pleased to provide Mobile Dispensing Services.

The services aim to provide the same professional Dispensing Optician services received in practice in the comfort of your own home.

Simple Single Vision Lenses can of course be ordered through our website but you may find the mobile dispensing service helpful when the prescription is beyond the simple range stated (-6.00 Sph /+4.00 Sph and 2.00 Cyl) or if there are other considerations that are better discussed beforehand with the Dispensing Optician.

All other lens options such as Bifocals, Varifocals & Vocational lenses etc are available using this service.

The Mobile Dispensing Service Fee is £30. (Which includes a £20 discount voucher towards Spectacles Dispensed)

A Dispensing Optician will advise on both frames and lenses after a full discussion of the prescription.

(Please note: A valid current spectacle prescription is required)

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

I am due an eye test but my eyes haven't changed can I just get new glasses?

To arrange an appointment with mobile dispensing services you MUST have a current spectacle prescription.

Please note: An eye test is NOT performed.

I'm allergic to some frames, will you have frames to suit?

When contacting The Glasses Lady for a mobile dispensing service appointment there are certain questions that will asked before a suitable time is agreed.

Double checking on any frame allergies is one of the appointment questions.

During an appointment where an allergy to frame materials has been noted, those frames will not be available to try on.

Available appointments are:

Mon to Friday between 10am and 7pm

Sat & Sunday between 10am and 4pm

How much does a Dispensing Service visit cost?

There is currently a £20 voucher towards spectacles when dispensing service applies

Can I have someone with me at the visit?

A second opinion from family members can be very helpful.

Appointments made for the elderly are recommended to have a family member present where possible.

Are there any discounts for pensioners?

There is a 10% discount structure available to all subscribers.

Pensioners receive 10% discount on purchase of their spectacles.

How long do the glasses take before they are ready?

As the Dispensing service covers lenses less readily available the appointment to deliver and fit them will usually be within 7-14 days.

Special order lenses may take slightly longer, and this will be advised at the time of ordering.

What if I need an adjustment to my glasses later on?

The spectacles purchased through the mobile Dispensing services are fitted at the time of delivery.

Should a minor adjustment be required within 1 year from purchase this is included in the after-care service.

A suitable appointment to make the adjustment using the contact us form should be arranged.

What Covid measures are there?

A mask will be worn by the Dispensing Optician along with any other PPE necessary for each visit.
